Come play with clay in this 6 week hand-building course. This is the perfect course to bring to life that idea you’ve had or just learn the basics in hand-building.
In this 6 week hand-building course you will learn the basics of coils and slab method. Not to mention, glazing tricks. You will work with white clay. When the course finishes, you will have between 1-3 pieces.
Week 1 - types of clay and preparations + pinch pot method
Goal: one mug or bowl
Week 2 - studio tools and clay stages + coil building method
Goal: one bud vase or milk pitcher
Week 3 - perfection and trimming
Goal: clean, polish and finish your first two pieces
Week 4 - slab making with Nerikomi
Goal: make a plate or bowl with a pattern
Week 5 - perfection and trimming
Goal: finish and perfect your Nerikomi piece
Week 6 - glaze day
Goal: glaze all your pieces and learn about glaze effects
